Longmarket Girls’ School: the only girl’s primary school in Pietermaritzburg offering three phases in one; Grade RR-7.
Our Grade RR and R classes are fondly referred to as the LINKS, because Pre-Primary is the bridge that links home and “big school”, starting in Grade 1. Our girls enjoy the benefits of having smaller classrooms, as our structured daily program focuses on hands-on learning and holistic development. As we aim to develop each child’s emotional, social and intellectual skills, we especially encourage independent thinking. Fine and gross motor, auditory, cognitive and non-cognitive skills are learnt in the classroom as well as during playtime. Plenty of learning takes place through imaginative play, which is encouraged in our daily routine. Our girls also benefit from our extra-curricular program, which includes swimming, ball skills and other sports.
JUNIOR AND SENIOR PRIMARY
Rooted in rich history, Longmarket Girls’ School has been educating and inspiring young minds for over 13 decades. As professional leaders and role models to our learners, we deeply value our motto: Loyalty, Honour and Truth. Our motto remains our legacy always, as we aspire to guide each young lady to become the best versions of themselves.
At Longmarket Girls’ School, emphasis is largely placed on academic excellence. The School has an outstanding record of academic achievement. Equipped with technology and air cons, each classroom’s environment offers stimulating and safe learning for everyone.
Participation in extra-curricular activities is encouraged, as our comprehensive curriculum offers a variety of sporting codes. These include hockey, soccer, basketball, netball, swimming, tennis, chess, arts and crafts and computer club.
The Longmarket Family consists of parents, learners and staff. Communication being key, a healthy relationship is formed within our family from day one, and remains for years to come. Longmarket School is the warm-hearted foundation where unforgettable friendships are forged and memories are held dear.
“Longmarket Girls’ School has been firmly founded on proud traditions, sound principles and good manners. Our aim is to continue with our task of preparing our pupils for the future by striving to develop the individual to full potential, intellectually, spiritually, physically, emotionally and socially.” M N Eudey (Headmistress 1987 – 1994)
